Business Faculty Receive 2025 Provost’s Fund for Innovation in Research Awards

The Office of Research & Economic Development announced that three Ourso College faculty have received awards from the 2025 Provost’s Fund for Innovation in Research: Anmol Soni (Public Administration), Paola Ugalde (Economics), and Andrew Schwarz (Entrepreneurship & Information Systems).

LSU Business Students Support Companies to Secure Growth Capital Through Venture Capital Apprentice Program

Last fall, 41 LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business students provided research and strategy support for eight local companies seeking venture capital. These efforts are part of the Venture Capital Apprentice Program (VCAP) formed by Nexus Louisiana (NexusLA), Innovation Catalyst and the Red Stick Angel Network in collaboration with the E. J. Ourso College and LSU Innovation Park.

LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business Announces 2025 AI in Action Symposium

We are pleased to announce "AI in Action: Leading in Louisiana Industries"; a symposium dedicated to exploring how artificial intelligence (AI) is driving innovation in critical sectors that define Louisiana's economy. This groundbreaking event will be held February 21, 2025 at the Lod Cook Hotel & Conference Center on the LSU A&M campus.

LSU Finance Students Finish in Top One Percent in Global Competition

A group of LSU finance majors finished in the top one percent of worldwide competitors in Bloomberg's 2024 Global Trading Challenge. With over 2,100 teams in the competition, Tiger Fund managers Henry Tanner of Raleigh, North Carolina; Thomas Abadie of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Maggie Hunter of Metairie, Louisiana; Ellen McGettigan of Houston and Augustus Roppolo of Covington, Louisiana finished in 14th place worldwide and 5th place among teams from North America. Senior Instructor Tish O'Connor, CFA, served as the group's advisor.

Finance Faculty Appears on “Line Your Own Pockets” Podcast: Seyed Kazempour, Assistant Professor of Finance, recently appeared on the Line Your Own Pockets podcast, hosted by Dave Mabe and Michael Nauss, to discuss his recent paper “Finfluencers”, co-authored with Ali Kakhbod (UC Berkeley), Dmitry Livdan (UC Berkeley) and Norman Schuerhoff (Swiss Finance Institute). The paper examined the accuracy – or lack thereof – of financial and investing advice given by social media influencers.
